Combining over 25 years of experience in managing and assessing parenting capacity within a residential family centre, we work in partnership with parents, Local Authorities and services to deliver supportive programmes of teaching and assessment to help families achieve more together.


Michael Lake
Registered Manager, Ashcombe House
Michael is the founder of Mikare and the Registered Manager of Ashcombe House. For over 15 years Michael has worked in statutory, voluntary and independent sectors with children and families. Upon qualifying with an MSc in Social Work from the University of Bristol in 2009, Michael spent 4 years working in a busy statutory safeguarding team.
For the last 9 years Michael has been the Registered Manager of a Residential Family Centre where he has enhanced his knowledge and skills of completing residential parenting assessments and developing his managerial and leadership skills with a team of over 25 staff. Throughout this time Michael has always maintained a ‘Good’ status with Ofsted over several inspection periods.
Michael has completed his Diploma Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care and is a Practice Educator – supporting first and final year Student Social Workers on their placements.
Michael is based full time at Ashcombe House and oversees the daily running of the centre.

Phil Beauchamp
Responsible Individual, Ashcombe House
Phil is our Responsible Individual. Since qualifying as a Social Worker in 1984 Phil has practiced as an Approved Mental Health professional (AMHP) under the 1983 Mental Health Act: amended by the Mental Health Act 2007 for 25 years. Phil has worked as an Independent Social Worker since 1992 in a variety of roles including a Children’s Guardian and Family Court Advisor between 2004 until 2012, and within statutory children and families services for over 30 years as a Social Work Practitioner and Service Manager.
Since 2012 Phil has worked as an Assessing and Consultant Social Worker in a Residential Family Centre. Phil has undertaken PAMS 4.0 training and alongside providing expert witness assessments in the Family Courts, he provides valuable mentorship and guidance to the team.

Charlotte Pearson
Deputy Manager, Ashcombe House
Charlotte has worked in a Residential Family Centre for the last 5 years where she developed a wide range of knowledge and skills supporting parents and their children as a Family Support Worker and Team Leader. Charlotte is an accredited infant massage therapist and has previously worked in early years education. Charlotte also has supervisory experience as she managed a team who worked with young people as part of residential school activities.
